Lead lined doors for X-ray and radiology rooms - built to the Pb equivalence of your shielding report, with matched lead glass windows, lead-lined frames and IEC 61331-1 type-test evidence.
Built to Your Shielding Report
Every lead lined door is built to the Pb equivalence specified in your radiation physicist shielding report. Common values: 1.0mmPb for general radiography, 2.0mmPb for high-workload suites, and up to 3.0mmPb for interventional labs. The lead sheet is bonded between the door core and the finished face, so the door looks and operates like a normal hospital door while stopping scatter radiation.
Frames, Overlaps and Leakage Paths
The door frame carries the same lead equivalence as the leaf, with a minimum 15mm overlap between the door edge and the frame lead. The architrave matches the wall shielding, ensuring no unprotected gap at the wall-to-frame junction. Hinges, locks and closers are mounted through the lead with lead washers behind every fastener.
Matched Lead Glass Vision Panels
Vision panels use lead glass with Pb equivalence matching the door leaf (typically 1.5-2.7mmPb). The window frame overlaps the door lead on all four sides, sealed with radiation-absorbing silicone. We supply lead glass windows as part of the door package with matching type-test documentation.
Swing, Sliding and LINAC Configurations
Available as manual swing (single or double leaf), automatic sliding (for radiology corridors), and double-leaf LINAC doors (for linear accelerator rooms). Manual swing doors are the most common configuration for general radiography; automatic sliding doors suit high-traffic radiology suites; wide LINAC doors accommodate patient tables and equipment.
IEC 61331-1 Type-Test Evidence
Every door ships with a type-test report to IEC 61331-1 documenting measured radiation attenuation at the specified kVp. This is the document your physicist submits for regulatory compliance. Material certificates for the lead sheet (purity and thickness) are available on request.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do we choose the Pb equivalence?
You do not - your radiation physicist does, in the shielding report. Common values: 1.0mmPb for general radiography, 2.0mmPb for CT suites, up to 3.0mmPb for interventional labs. We build each door to the value written against its position.
Is the frame lead lined too?
Yes. The frame carries the same lead equivalence as the leaf with a minimum 15mm overlap between door edge and frame lead, and the architrave matches the wall shielding - no unprotected gap at the wall-to-frame joint.
Do you build LINAC doors?
Yes - double-leaf LINAC doors for linear accelerator rooms are part of this range, alongside manual swing doors for general radiography and automatic sliding doors for CT corridors.
What certification comes with the doors?
Each door ships with a type-test report to IEC 61331-1 documenting measured attenuation at the specified kVp, plus material certificates - the paperwork your physicist submits for regulatory compliance.
What is the lead time?
Lead lined doors run 20-35 days after drawing and shielding confirmation, with each leaf verified against its specified Pb rating before packing.
