The glass airtight automatic door puts full-height visibility where theatres and ICUs need it most - at the entrance - without giving up Class 4 airtight sealing. A tempered glass leaf in a sealed aluminum frame, driven by the same overhead operator family as our standard airtight doors.

Full-Height Visibility with Class 4 Sealing

The glass airtight automatic door combines full-height visibility with Class 4 airtight sealing. The tempered glass leaf (8mm standard, 10mm for wider openings) sits in an aluminum frame with a continuous gasket channel around all four sides. When the door closes, the gasket compresses against the frame to achieve EN 12207 Class 4 - maintaining the room pressure differential for operating theatres (positive 15-25Pa) or isolation suites (negative 2.5-10Pa).

Why Operating Rooms and ICUs Choose Glass Leaves

The glass provides unobstructed visibility for nursing staff and anaesthetists to monitor the surgical field without opening the door - reducing unnecessary entries and maintaining the sterile zone. For hybrid theatres with intraoperative imaging, lead glass with matched Pb equivalence is available.

8mm and 10mm Tempered Glass Options

Standard leaves use 8mm tempered glass; wider openings step up to 10mm for stiffness and safety margin. Both are safety glazing - if broken, tempered glass fragments into small granules rather than shards, the behavior healthcare glazing specifications are built on. Frame finishes follow the suite: anodized aluminum or powder-coated to the interior scheme.

Operator and Safety Systems

The operator and safety systems are identical to our standard airtight sliding doors: brushless DC motor, sealed overhead track, adjustable speed and dwell. Activation by radar, infrared or foot switch. Battery backup opens the door on power failure.

Cleaning and Frame Finishes

Glass surfaces are non-shedding and wipe-clean with standard clinical disinfectants. The aluminum frame is anodized or powder-coated to match the interior scheme, with coved transitions to the wall panel system for cleanroom compatibility.

Commissioning the Glass Door

Speed, dwell and sensor angles are set at commissioning to the suite's real traffic - beds and trolleys first, staff second - and the safety reversal is checked against both. After that the door simply runs: sealed track, brushless motor, no lubrication schedule inside the clean zone. For suites that later add anaesthetic monitoring or change traffic patterns, the same settings are re-adjustable from the controller without touching the leaf or the seal.
